What is a Celebrant?

Simply put, a Celebrant is someone who officiates at ceremonies.

How did you become a Celebrant?

As a former UK Deputy Superintendent Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages I am an experienced English and Spanish speaking Independent Celebrant living permanently in Spain.

I am a skillful wordsmith, an accomplished public speaker and a genuine people-person.
I honestly believe that all of my life experiences have lead me to become a Celebrant.

For me, officiating at the most important events in your life is a vocation and I love what I do.
It is both a privilege and an honour for me to be an essential part of your wedding, elopement, vow renewal, naming ceremony or funeral celebration of life. #loveislove

What does a Celebrant do?

A Celebrant officiates at all life events marked by ceremony.
From the beginning of time, all people have practised rites, rituals and ceremonies.

I can offer an alternative to traditional or religious ceremonies - sometimes called non-denominational, non-religious, secular, spiritual or humanist (with a little "h").

As a Celebrant I have the flexibility and freedom to blend traditions, mix cultural rituals and fuse faiths! I can officiate at your ceremony wherever you want it, whenever you want it.

Can you be legally married by a Celebrant?

The birth of a baby is legally recorded in a register. Later we mark the occasion with a some type of welcome like a christening, a baptism or symbolic Baby Naming Ceremony

The death of person is legally recorded in a register. Later we mark the occasion with some type of funeral, a wake or a symbolic Celebration of Life Ceremony.

The marriage or civil partnership of two people is legally recorded in a register. Often we mark the occasion at the same time, but many couples choose to celebrate later with a symbolic Wedding Ceremony

So, whilst as a Celebrant, I cannot legally marry you in Spain, I can officiate at your perfect destination wedding ceremony here in the sunshine wherever you want, whenever you want and however you want!
